This CV-580 aircraft is cn #8, a converted CV-340-31. It was built in September 1952 and delivered to United Airlines that month. It was acquired by Frontier Airlines in November 1967 and converted to a CV-580 in March 1968. In 1981 it went to Metroflight. In 1988 it went to Robert F. Grammer and in June 1989 it went to RG Aviation who operated the aircraft for Laredo Air.
In March 1992 it went to Gateway Finance. On May11,1992 the aircraft was struck by another aircraft at Opa-Locka, Florida when the other aircraft's brakes failed. It was withdrawn from use and stored in Florida. In March 1996 it was acquired by JBQ Aviation Corp. and in May that year it was scrapped.
