This CV-580 aircraft is cn #41, a converted CV-340-31. It was built in January 1953 and delivered to United Airlines that month. It was acquired by Frontier Airlines in June 1967 and converted to a CV-580 in September 1967. In November 1979 it was acquired by Transporte Aero Militar. In February 1989 it was purchased by Meyer Company in Ohio. In May 1994 the civil registration was cancelled and it was exported to Zaire. It was sold to Compagnie Africaine D'Aviation in April 1997. That same month the aircraft crashed at Tshikapa Airport in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Damage was extensive enough that the aircraft was written off.
